I have visited Exit Glacier in Alaska dozens of times over the past 16 years, but this is a flashback to the very first time I had a chance to encounter it. It was also the first glacier I have ever seen in person. 16 years ago, Exit Glacier was much closer to the viewing platform and parking lot than it is today. I went on a cloudy day with my husband (then boyfriend,) and the colors, once again, just popped. I think about the changes I have seen over the years in Alaska’s glacial ice, and I am so grateful that I got to see it up close so many years ago before it retreated.
